Passions In Bloom

My journey to finding inspiration and happiness

Semester 2 Hopes

I have survived Week 1 of classes!

I can’t think of one way that I could be more content with my life right now. I am insanely busy, much busier than I’m used to, but I’m adjusting just fine and I kind of like it. I don’t have much time to actually waste at this point, which is great for my productivity. And I’m never bored anymore. Continue reading “Semester 2 Hopes”

2016–Even More Of Me

And so this year comes to a close.

I’m not one to make resolutions because I don’t think my goals should be based around a yearly calendar. If I’m serious about them then they should be ongoing and motivated by myself, not by the approach of January. But I do like to take this time to reflect on the past year of my life and what’s to come. Continue reading “2016–Even More Of Me”

December Knits

I have been knitting up a storm since I’ve been home from college! It’s so wonderful because with all the craziness of school, I really haven’t found much time to knit. Even though I have a whole drawer devoted to yarn… :O

I knit almost every single Christmas gift I gave this year. Here are some of my proudest accomplishments in the past month!

This hat is for my grandpa, but looks great on both women and men

How do we know what we want in life? What do we base our morals and standards and expectations off of?

In the past few months and even weeks, I have felt myself shift in my perspective of how others act towards me. We learn many of our attitudes from our parents and mentors while we are young, but we learn just as much from people around us who make mistakes and show us how not to be. Continue reading “Rethinking”

I’ve been feeling confident about my writing lately. I’m in an Intro to Creative Writing class, and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed homework so much. I spent over four hours last week writing a first draft for a creative non-fiction piece, and that’s unusual for me! Continue reading “Radiance–Poetry”

My First Tattoo!

I got my first tattoo about 2 weeks ago and I could not be happier with how it turned out! I found a really creative, artistic shop to get it done at and that really paid off. They took a sketch and turned it into a cohesive work of art. I would definitely recommend Glenn’s Tattoo Service in Wilmington, NC and a big thanks to Brian! It’s still a little shiny in this picture because of the Aquaphor, but here’s the general idea 🙂

Today is the Day

I’ve been obsessed lately with the power of time. How do we choose to spend it? What do we do because of need and what do we do with our free time? What if the lines between needing and wanting were blurred and we could actually enjoy ourselves while we do the things required of us?

It is so heartbreaking and scary to me to see all the thousands of people, brain-dead at work, minds numbed to the rest of their days. It’s a complete waste of life. Life is happy and active and ever-changing, and remaining stagnantly in place, year after year, is the most wretched way to live. Things will not always go as planned, but that’s ok. We get new ideas out of nowhere, and we change our minds all the time. It’s ok! Change is natural and good for us.

I am about to move 1500 miles to go to a college where I know one person. I have never switched schools before in my life. I have never moved or lived without my parents. I have no experience with this kind of thing. And every day, as the moving date marches closer and closer, I get a little more scared. But I know that fear is the reason I have to stride confidently towards the dread and never back down. Continue reading “Today is the Day”
